September 01, 2006
Korean LG has signed a WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) 3G mobile phone agreement with British Vodafone, under which LG will manufacture at least one million units of WCDMA 3G mobile phones, L600V, for Vodafone. LG expects to increase the ASP (Average Selling Price) of its 3G mobile phones through this cooperation. Prior to this deal, LG's long-term strategic partner has been Hong Kong-based Hutchison, while Vodafone has formed a close partnership with Korean Samsung.
